Problem no 1: Remote Workers Actually Don’t Work

That’s the first thing people will say. We tend to believe that employees will be more distracted if the boss isn’t there to keep an eye on every move they make. But, all researches show productivity increase after permitting remote work.
As we mentioned earlier, office colleagues and often breaks can do a lot of damage for focus and productivity. Working in the known environment will give the possibility to eliminate all distractions on time.
So, everybody, it’s time to get rid of that picture in your head where a remote worker sits in his pyjamas all day picking movies from Netflix. It just isn’t true!

Working remotely doesn’t mean that your boss can call you at 3 a.m., but it also doesn’t mean that your friends can call you at any time of a day to drive them grocery shopping.

Problem no 3: Remote Workers are Poor in Communication

Working remotely surely doesn’t imply that communication suffers. Of course, in the very beginning, it is necessary to arrange everything about it – choose tools for communicating and introduce expectations from both employers and employees.
Video meetings are great solutions here. There is enough of human touch, but it is a time-saving and efficient way of resolving problems or just keeping in touch with the rest of the team or with a client.

The main question is – is remote work good solution for everyone? There isn’t a one-size-fits-all kind of answer. We are not all the same. What works for me doesn’t mean it will work for you.

If people are constant remote workers or continuous in-office workers, they will for sure be less engaged than the people who have the liberty to combine and work from home or office, depending on their productivity or tasks.

Many questions crosses our mind when remote work is mentioned. Will I be motivated enough? Focused enough? The collaboration will be difficult. Connectivity and bonding are limited. It’s technically tricky. What if the internet goes down and I depend on it?

But also, what if something is urgent? If the deadline is close? If the client expects something ASAP? There is no doubt that moving away from office and colleague’s interruptions is the only possible way to deliver on time.

For sure, there is a possibility to live and work in harmony with having both solutions open. Combining remote and in-office work will set employers and employees in a win-win situation.
