That was an Awesome Gauss Year

Tuesday, 30 December, 2014

As the year is coming to an end, we remember moments and events that have left a mark on us as individuals and as a firm. Making New Year’s resolutions is a tradition and here in Gauss we have set new goals which we will strive to achieve in 2015. But for now, let’s stay a little longer in this year and take a look at all the good things it has brought us…

Opening Offices

We come from Osijek, a city located on the river Drava. It is known as “the Croatian Silicon Valley” because of all the IT companies based here.

Three years ago, we started our business with a few employees in a small, but cozy office. At the beginning of 2014, the number of employees increased to 15 and we had three offices on different addresses. We soon opened an office in Zagreb. Our team consisted of several programmers, marketing managers, a few designers and project managers. We slowly entered foreign markets and increased our workload after opening offices in Stuttgart and Los Angeles. Developers and designers became overwhelmed and had to extend working hours, work during holidays and weekends in order to finish tasks and projects on time.

From the very start, we realized that we would have to train our own staff since we could not afford to pay professionals and didn’t want to turn down new offers. We established the brand Gauss Informatics – a school where our developers held lectures 2-3 times a week for a period of six months. Students were divided into groups according to a field of interest: Web development (front-end and back-end), Android or iPhone development. We gave prospective students a chance to come work in the office and gain experience. After a few months, they became members of the Gauss team. By the end of 2014, our number of employees has grown to 45! Of course, most of them are developers, but we now have a proper management and sales team. We even moved to a new fancy office in April. We occupied an entire floor of a building so that our team could work in one work space. It is important for us to get the job done from start to finish. We cover every phase: concept, design, development, test & debug. After every segment is completed, the final product is sent to the client.

Partners from Germany, Switzerland, and Russia have been very happy with our developer’s performance and often invite them to work abroad in their firms for a few weeks. These partnerships have brought us fantastic projects which you can browse in our portfolio.

All of those who thought we could handle only programming and education were proven wrong. Tourism was the next challenge and in July 2014 we opened our very own villa in Ičići, on the coast of Istria. Gauss Villa is an oasis of peace and beauty, a small paradise for tourists. The first season was a success and we received great reviews and recommendations from guests.

We are a young company (haven’t even celebrated our 3rd birthday yet) but we can proudly say that we have grown and achieved a lot.

Thanks to all our team members, partners, clients, friends and family members who have supported us and followed our work!
